Regional March of Dimes Coordinator Report

This year Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. celebrates our more than 41 years of partnership with the March of Dimes (MOD) organization who themselves are celebrating 75 years of promoting and supporting the health and wellness of mothers and babies! Zeta continues to be one of the leading supporting organizations for the March of Dimes as it relates to fundraising and raising overall awareness for their cause. With our support annually for March for Babies, the Prematurity Awareness Campaign and other advocacy efforts, as well as our Storks Nest program, Zeta’s impact on the March of Dimes is tremendous.

The National March Of Dimes Representatives announced Grand Wright’s March of Dimes 2013 National Campaign objectives under the heading “The Wright Time, Wright Now!” The campaign includes (3) components:

Component 1: Raise $300K in 2013

Component 2: Challenge Ζ−Φ−Β

• Recognize Zeta chapters & Auxiliaries who raise funds for March for babies that exceed $3,000 in 2013
• Rally UG chapters and members (by Region) to increase participation in March for Babies by 20% over 2012 (paid walkers and money raised)
• Rally all Auxiliaries and members (by Region) to increase participation in March for Babies by 20% over 2012 (paid walkers and money raised)

Component 3: National Recognition/Awards Program
Recommendations were also made in reference to increasing visibility at regional and state meetings. The objective is to re-establish/maintain MOD’s presence within the sisterhood. Recommendations were as follows:

1. Booth/display table
2. Workshop presentation
3. Suggest a keynote speaker
4. Distribute MOD materials (brochures, freebies, etc.)
5. Prepare one or two give-away baskets/bags for a raffle
6. Distribution of Zeta MOD awards
7. Share MOD information in Zeta publications (article and/or ad, etc.)
